J.K.M. Pinot Noir
Wine
Gembrook Hill J.K.M. Pinot Noir honours winery co-founder June Kathryn Marks. Grown on the estate Upper Yarra vineyard, making it explores new viticultural and winemaking practices.
In the vineyard, Gembrook Hill take their usual practice of shoot thinning a step further into shoot selection. They only keep the shoots they know will create an open canopy, increasing sunlight on the vines, and producing more intense fruit.
In the winery one third of the fruit is fermented as whole bunches then aged in an old French hogshead. The remainder is destemmed for fermentation, then aged in new and seasoned French oak.
Light red, Gembrook Hill J.K.M. Pinot Noir is a complex, aromatic wine with exuberant red fruits, savoury character and long, fine tannins. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
